Aims and scope

Cellular & Molecular Intelligence (CMI) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research at the intersection of molecular biology, cellular systems, artificial intelligence, computational biology, systems science, drug discovery, and translational medicine. The journal aims to advance understanding of how cells, molecules, and biological networks sense, compute, adapt, and respond, and how these mechanisms can be translated into predictive, programmable, and precision approaches to human health and disease. CMI promotes interdisciplinary research that bridges molecular biology, computational intelligence, systems biology, and clinical translation. The journal focuses on innovative studies that decode biological complexity, support AI-assisted discovery, and contribute to the development of next-generation diagnostics, therapeutics, and precision medicine.

Article publishing options

All articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 license. Authors retain the copyright to their work. Immediate and unrestricted access is provided to all published articles. Currently, no article processing charges are required for publication.

Publishing timeline

Every manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment by the Editor-in-Chief or Section Editors to determine suitability for the journal. Qualifying manuscripts enter a single-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent experts in the field. Final publication decisions rest with the editorial board, and the Editor-in-Chief has final authority over editorial decisions.

Ethics and reporting

CMI adheres to best-practice guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). Authors are required to provide appropriate ethics approval documentation for all research involving human participants, human data, animals, or animal-derived materials, together with full disclosure of competing interests, funding sources, and required declarations. All manuscripts are screened for originality using plagiarism-detection software to support academic honesty, research integrity, and transparency.
