Digital Preservation

Digital Preservation

Clinical & Molecular Biomedicine (CMB) is committed to the permanent preservation of scientific knowledge and the long-term accessibility of the scholarly record. The journal’s digital preservation policy is designed to ensure that published articles remain available, discoverable, and citable over time.

Long-Term Preservation of Published Content

To safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record against technical failures, platform changes, or digital loss, CMB employs a robust, multi-layered digital archiving strategy.

All published content is preserved using high-availability, cloud-based digital archiving systems. This approach supports disaster recovery, long-term storage, and continuous accessibility of published materials.

Version of Record

The final, paginated article published on the CMB website is treated as the official Version of Record.

The journal’s archiving systems maintain strict version control to ensure that the Version of Record is preserved alongside any formal corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.

Persistent Identifiers

After final production, each published article is assigned a permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The DOI ensures that the article remains permanently identifiable, citable, and traceable.

Authors are encouraged to use the stable DOI link when sharing their published work to ensure accurate citation tracking and attribution.

Metadata Preservation

Published articles are tagged with structured XML metadata to support indexing, discoverability, and long-term access through search engines and academic databases.

Accurate metadata helps ensure that articles remain searchable, linked, and accessible to readers, researchers, and indexing systems.

Access to Published Articles

As a gold open-access journal, CMB provides immediate and unrestricted access to the final Version of Record. Authors and readers may download the final PDF directly from the journal platform.

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, authors are encouraged to share the final article link or PDF version through institutional repositories, personal websites, and professional academic networks, provided that proper attribution is given.

Preservation of Corrections and Retractions

CMB preserves the scholarly record by maintaining access to corrected or retracted content in a transparent manner.

Retracted articles are not deleted from the journal website or archives. Instead, they remain accessible but are clearly marked as retracted. This ensures that citations remain traceable and that readers can understand the reason for any post-publication amendment.

External Preservation Services

To strengthen long-term preservation, CMB explores partnerships with external preservation services such as CLOCKSS or Portico. These services support the continued discoverability and accessibility of scholarly content for future researchers.

Commitment to Scholarly Continuity

Digital preservation is an essential part of CMB’s responsibility to authors, readers, and the scientific community. By preserving published content, article metadata, DOI records, and post-publication notices, the journal supports transparency, accountability, and the lasting value of biomedical research.
